LED mirrors vs. Sconces

Does anyone have photos of whether or not ppl put sconces besides LED mirrors? Or is it with LED mirrors, sconces lighting isn't really necessary? Or is it more like a decor? Need to see some visuals on how this works.

In order to answer this question we need to see your space I prefer good overall lighting in bathrooms and from the ceiling and a good bathbar over a mirror I do not like sconces . As for the LED mirror and scoances I would not do that I would for sure do good overhead lighting and the LED mirror stands as the star in the space

I don’t have photos becos we plan to take down everything and I was thinking of adding 2 LED mirrors (21x36) over a 72” double sink. Which cost less usually? Regular mirror and add decor lighting above or on side vs LED mirrors?

I agree with Patricia, I’m not a fan of sconces. I do like the LED mirror and I think you would get the most bang for your buck having one or two LED cans in the ceiling. These days they’re super energy efficient, easy to install or retrofit and bulb color can easily be color matched to any color needed.

Its more of a decorative piece I guess vs practicality since the LED mirrors r pretty bright. And in the bathroom there will b recess lighting as well in general

Sure you can have both. The main issue, in my opinion, is whether the LED in the mirror is replaceable when it fails.

@kudzu9 I think the LED lights are suppose to last like forever, as far as I know. Bulbs won't need to be changed out. But I see your concern too, yeh.

I'm putting the wall sconces over my LED mirrors as well and have them on different switches. This case you don't have to have everything on at same time.

In my previous house I used an LED mirror w/medicine cabinet in one of my bathrooms. The LED was very bright, but also dimmable. You do need to have other light in the bathroom. That bathroom had 2 recessed light in the ceiling and 2 recessed light over the tub/shower area. I didn't have room for sconces which is why I did the larger LED mirror/cabinet.

@beverly That is a beautiful mirror with the light behind. Is that ur photo? I am trying to find a mirror w LED in the back rather than the front where I usually see (with buttons, not a fan). Anyone have links to a nice big LED mirror that lights from behind for a 72” vanity or maybe 2 separate ones can work too. Any help is appreciated.

I suggest Madeli or Robern brand, maybe talk to the local authorized showrom to get discount.

I personally think LED mirrors aren’t flattering, or helpful, when applying makeup. I prefer side sconces because they project the most even light onto your face. (As opposed to an overhead fixture).

You can always do both, on separate switches as Jenny Lee suggested.
