I like the first set of chairs the best out of the three. I think Amanda's idea was to centre the sofa to face the far wall (correct me if I'm wrong). Did you try that layout? It would mean moving the couch in more so you could walk around it from both sides when entering the room.

I wouldn’t try to center it, Push it up against the wall. You need at least 2 feet, preferably 3 feet, for a walkway.

Hard to tell from this picture… how many feet do you have now on the right side?

Do you have at least 2 feet for a walkway to enter the room when the sofa is centered?

You might try pushing it further into the room to see how it would look with a very narrow sofa table behind it.

That would soften the look of the back of the sofa.

Amanda, I just measured.  When. The sofa is centered with the back to us its just under 2 feet so I'm afraid it's a bit tight. :(

I really just want a nice family room that's functional.  I love the idea of the back wall being a mounted TV with a lonnnnggg TV stand with storage. Likely something from ikea. I just don't know if I should keep loveseat under window or replace with 2 accent chairs.

Can you try moving the sofa in toward the wall a bit more? Leave a 3 foot walkway.

I would try this and move the loveseat out of the window to the opposite wall.

Another option is to place the sofa on the long wall opposite the window and place the loveseat with its back to the entry. This might work better size-wise.

Thanks for the suggestion. We've decided to either have couch along long wall across from two chairs under window. OR couch along back wall with TV in corner and 2 chairs where love seat was originally.  

I'll attach the two longer tv stands were considering.

It sounds like putting the tv on the back wall with a large console under it is the best solution for you and keeping the sofa and loveseat facing each other.

I think so too. Now to find an awesome TV stand and plan the rest I suppose! What do you think of these options? We are looking at something 70 inches wide or so with lots or storage to go under tv!

I'd like to either replace couch or rug too. I'm sick of the cool tones in this room honestly....

You're probably just spending more time in this room than before and you want a change. I completely understand. I've never had a budget to completely do a room over all at once, but I could always make things look new and fresh by tweaking and "shopping" in other areas of my house. For instance if you have a rug in the bedroom you love then you can swap it for the one in the living room. Once you have the tv in there things will start to look different. If you love your art, I would hang them stacked - maybe in the living room, maybe not. I would not mount the tv on the wall unless it's one of those art tvs, but I would tether it to the stand for safety with a little one around. I would be on the lookout for an ottoman (possibly with storage) to go between the sofa and loveseat (chairs in the future) or you could put baskets under your existing coffee table. Slowly it will morph into a room that you will love.

I don' know what you decided but I like the sofa on the long wall in your original photo and the love seat in front of the window, with the tv on the back wall opposite the window. Not sure about the chair, it would depend on how much room you have after the bigger furniture is placed.

Katrina - yes! I've devised on that layout. I was thinking of getting two new accenr chairs for under the window instead of the loveseat.

Any suggestions on what to put in this corner? Loveseat will not be there.

I am assuming you are putting an end table between the two chairs? I'd wait to see how much room you have after placing the two chairs and table. Unless you already have the measurements you don't really know how much room you will have.

I don't know what tv stand you will get or the color of the woods you are going to use but in a small space I would keep a similar wood tone with the woods-that last arm chair is light, your sofa legs are dark. Your end table is light. You can always change the color of the sofa legs if you decide to go all light, they usually just screw off the sofa. It looks like the style of any of those fits in with your contemporary sofa and coffee table.

That cabinet is too tall.

My 65" TV sits on a 25"-tall cabinet and the center line of the TV is 17" above the cabinet.

We don't know the size of the tv either. Wdccruise has a good point. I don't like straining my neck, my tv is at eye level when I'm sitting and its comfortable.

Tv size is 55 inches. I agree as well. This is the height I'm going after. I don't think the TV will be too high. The cabinet is quite low.

The cabinet in the first picture appears to be taller than ~25" so the TV will be too high. The TV in the second photo is hung too high on the wall; it should have just sat on the cabinet.

The cabinet also doesn't come with handles so I would love to hear your opinions on what to buy!

I looked at the dimensions of a few 55" TVs: the center is typically about 14" from the bottom and the legs are about 2" tall. If the TV's center is to be 42" from the floor then the bench should be 42" - 14" - 2" = 26" tall. Your proposed cabinet is 29" which is pretty close.

Wdccruise, thanks. We are still going with this cabinet and will mount tv barely any higher then the cabinet itself. It may not be perfect in terms of height but it will be slightly above it. Barely. 

I also love the idea of putting some family photos either in this area or another wall in general. Thoughts?

Cables will be visible between the wall-hung TV and the cabinet. You can attach the cables to the TV's legs or (in some cases) route them through the legs if the TV sits on the cabinet. If you decide to move the cabinet, the TV will be in the wrong place. If you decide to move the TV, you'll leave holes in the wall which will have to be repaired. If you need to paint the wall, the TV will be in the way.

On this wall, we are thinking of doing a gallery wall something like the photos attached. The measurements are 4 × 8 . Any idea what sized picture frames I should be looking for? Also, do we like black frame or wood?

Would frames this size look too large on this wall? Just didn't know if I should do square or rectangle, 4 of 6 frames. Thanks
