I would not use shutters as they need to look like the conceivably would be functional and you second floor windows do not appear to the type for shutters or spaced properly for the right size shutters.

No shutters and I'm not loving the idea of hanging a deck off of the porch.

I would leave off the deck, if it were my house. It just doesnt look right. Do you have an area in the back of the house to put that deck. That would be much nicer.

Agree with Cat. The deck doesn't look right. Looks like lots of lovely shade and privacy behind the house. That is where I would put a deck or a patio. Patios don't need much maintenance and don't need to be rebuilt in 10-15 years.

The way the lot slopes in front gives you an opportunity for some lovely landscaping...Quasi terracing with some boulders and layered plantings. Much nicer than any deck out front, IMO.
