Replacing a 2 AMP switch with a 20 AMP switch?

I have a Lutron motion sensor switch with timer that I just learned was a 2 AMP switch. I had purchased a single pole Leviton 20 AMP switch to replace the existing motion sensor switch. Can this be done? Or should I purchase a lower AMP switch? TYIA!

What does the switch control? Presumably lighting? What kind of lighting?

The rating of a switch is the maximum current it can safely control, not the minimum required to make it function. If the previous switch worked without overheating, catching fire, etc. then the 20a will be OK.

You can use the 20 amp switch ($11.43 at HD) or trade it in on a 15 amp switch ($2.47 at HD) which may be much cheaper.
