The horizontal studs on the floor are only holding hold the column in place if there are no fasteners through those studs underneath the base of the column. But there is no way to determine that by visual inspection, so the best thing to do as an "insurance policy" would be to drive in long (3-1/4") nails at a 45 degree angle so they penetrate the part of the stud that is directly under the column base on all four sides. This will insure a good connection, and then you can cut away the part of the horizontal stud you don't want. Does that make sense?

i want to only remove the horizontal stud on the floor, but if I remove it, I am not sure how the column get impacted.

Pull it up; it has nothing to do with the column.

If it is truly a column behind them and installed properly the vertical studs were there as blocking most likely. I would still be careful removing them as it appears you are not really sure what you are doing up to this point and hopefully not over your head.

I believe the OP wants to remove the plate at floor level. It appears the vertical studs are sitting on top of the plate, so it would need to be cut at the intersection of the vertical studs.

Read my answer above. No one can be sure what is holding the base of the column in place, and that is why I provided you a method to be sure it was secure before you removed the part of the horizontal stud that is not below the column.
