Do I need to center a sofa with the fireplace?

I am looking to replace the two brown chairs (1st photo) with a sofa. This room is fairly small for a family room and narrow so I am looking to maximize space. I am looking at a sofa that comes in an 81" or 95" length. The 81" I can center with the fireplace, but the 95" would have to be pushed toward the left (if you're facing the fireplace), making it off center. The drawback of the 81", of course, is that it's less seating.

For measurements, the width of the room is 158". But with the console on the right, it is only 137". The console houses all of our tv chords but could be moved if necessary. The other issue, if you look at the 2nd photo, is the refrigerator sticks out even more so than the console, so even if you removed the console you still have the fridge you'd have to angle around to enter the family room.

Would love any input and any other suggestions for this room. Thank you!

Are you sure that placing that small TV over the stone on the FP was the best location? You appear to have two other walls that might have changed the total room and allowed you to have a larger screen.

Is this the only entertaining room in the house? IMO this space woul;dbe awesome with no TV for a nice relaxing before dinner visit with friends. Right now I think a really huge FP in a very small space and takes over the room .IMO you are better off with the chairs and the 95" sofa will not look right at all. How many people need to sit in that space ?

I would eliminate all 3 chairs and the existing coffee table and install the 91" couch or an "L" shaped couch instead with a smaller coffee table and move rug closer to the fireplace.

I like the idea of an L shaped sectional also. Couches are really only comfortable for two people -- no one wants to get stuck in the middle seat. So if you did go for a couch, I'd get the 81" so there's space to walk into the room on either side. If we're looking at the fireplace, what's to the left of that room?

We had a similiar set up in a former home and found an ”apartment sized” leather sofa worked great for size/scale - many furniture lines offer them

Really need to know how many people sit in that room to watch TV together. For looks, I would get a slighly curved (at each end) apartment sofa and a swivel chair. I'd also tuck a secetary or small desk, plus small stool, to the left of the fireplace, and some kind of interesting storage on the right that didn't interfere with the door function. (Shallow basket bins on pegs? Nice ones?)

I'd take everything of the mantle and consider painting it a weathered barn gray .

Thank you all SO much for your comments. To answer your questions, this is the only entertainment room in the house. There are 4 in our family but we use this room to entertain company, watch sports games on TV, etc. To the left of the fireplace is just a wall with two windows. A 90 inch sofa would work but, again, it would be offcenter with the fireplace. I do like the idea of a sectional. The dimension are 112 x 112 inches. I also like the idea of an organizational area to the right of the fireplace.
