Can you post pictures of your kitchen so we can see what you're working with? Red aak tends to look pink if it's not stained (clearcoated) or stained a light color, so medium brown is probably your best bet, but stains have undertones just like paint colors, so you need to have the flooring contractor put samples of a couple different browns on the floor after sanding so you can see what your options are.
