home decor input

I've been working hard and basically had to completely redesign my living spaces and dining room. Aside from a few things (ex: I need to recover the dining room chairs), I was wondering if any of you have some suggestions or constructive criticism. Thank you so much! I'm posing the front entryway, the front living room, the tv room and the dining room. See all my comments with the photos.

While individual pieces are interesting, your rooms look disconnected. The two things which work together, color and style wise, are the tile floors and the wood floors. I would have used it for inspiration for everything. For instance, I really like this area.

But I don't like the green chair, the foyer art, Asian blue garden stools in the mix.

Constructive criticism, you nailed it with the sectional and rugs (not the throw pillows) and should have stayed with that warm feel throughout the house.

Do I get a prize for spotting your actual dog? Cute pooch!

    So I would:

Swap out the hall runner for the kitchen runner

Put the stag head in the room with the ceiling fan

See if the entry way art work fit between the windows in the front living room (where the seascape is now). If not, I would put a frame or molding around the entry way artwork that echoed the structure of the console table.

Put the white flowers in the front living room in another room.

    Voila!

(oh -- and get a darker slipcover for the sofa under the sunflower art)

It would really help if you added more photos
😂🤣 just kidding! nobody can say that in this post!

I like your place. It looks very nice and clean and out together. But I agree that some rooms don’t connect with the next and some items don’t connect with the rest in a room.

A couple things I initially noticed is the art in the entry. And the armoire in the LR or whatever it’s called.

Entry art- is it fabric or wallpaper in a canvas? That’s what it looks like. I like the idea but the execution needs more of something. A floating frame or something for it to be more like art and less like a craft item.

I like the armoire also but not a fan of the painting on it. It would look fabulous with some glossy paint. Or even sanded and wood refinished.

Right now I see a combo of some glam and country. I can’t tell if you’re in the middle of changing from one style to another or your trying to fit in the stuff your husband brought to the relationship, prob from his childhood, and combine it with your style.

I think it would be better to add a small touch of country nostalgia to each room and then add the rest to the guest room or garage.

Thank you justcallmepool for the feedback! I do like more eclectic of a look which is why the rooms don't really flow together. That being said, I totally agree with you. But, I enjoy the personality of each room in its own way.

Also, I completely agree with the entry art. A family friend painted it for us, but it definitely does look like a crafty item. I will look into a floating frame for sure!

The armoire is also not my favorite. You were spot on about inheriting my husbands things. I am considering removing it completely.

I do want the house to look nice and have personality, but I don't want it to feel overwhelming or look confusing. I appreciate your feedback!

    Nice house.

Love the entry artwork. The lampshades need to be white. I like the jars under. Agree the country throw pillows are wrong and slipcover green chair. Please no karate chop pillows anymore lol. That poor deerhead is crammed in the wrong spot.
