Thanks for the input - they are actually made in the USA and are solid wood construction. I know a lot of people on houzz have extreme no limit budgets but we are public school employees so not on architectural design budget lol.

I’m no cabinet expert, but I understand the Gray Train is way down the tracks. But maybe you just like gray anyway and don’t care about trends.

What brand would you suggest? It is not too late but I need to get on it . I should have mentioned White quartz isn’t for us - so I love the gray quartz and then mix in the wood tones in shelves , decor - barstools - so that it is not a gray and white kitchen. Please share brands you’d consider. Thanks !

If you could get a white with some warmth that would be the easiest to decorate around. I definitely think you will regret the muddy white/gray.

Is this a remodel or a new build? It would be good to see the samples in your space. The windows, lighting, and other surfaces will impact how colors look in your space.

For good budget cabinets, I always recommend Ikea. They have a 25-year warranty and good design. I have installed them in rentals, and used them in the basement of my current house. I don’t know anything about the brand you showed above, so no comment on that. I would not do a glazed treatment on painted cabinets. If choosing between the two you showed, I’d choose the white shaker. Below is IKEA Akstad.

IMO glazed cabinets alwayus look dirty and I agree many shades of white are avaible .If the cabinet company you are dealing with does not have choices I would run away from them.

Way outdated. That frilly door is just too much. Most people are trying to upgrade 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 cheap bad cabinets.

Yes the fussy door is ‘outdated’, both the door and the stain itself. That said, in a traditional house go for it- YOUR HOUSE. Don’t apologize for the cabinets you can afford, but I would also look at ikea as noted above. You can put them together, contractor can install them.

The top cabinet is identical to the one I have in my kitchen (except I have a different color). I bought this house three years ago and I don't know exactly when the cabinets were installed, but I'm pretty sure it was about 15 years ago. So that is not the style you want. As soon as they hit their 20 year anniversary (I'm going to go by the age of the appliances) they are going to go. :-) I preferred the white Shaker that was in my previous house, installed in 1997. So don't think the white Shaker style is trendy - it has been used for a long time, and depending on the floors, counters and backsplash, it doesn't have to be boring. Ikea kitchens are very highly regarded by the posters and commenters on this site, so I would definitely check them out.

A local custom cabinet maker is likely more affordable than you think. You may want to work with a good kitchen designer, to help with the layout and design details.

I'm not sure how others are criticizing the quality of the cabinets by just looking at one picture.  I would go with the style that you like, even if it might be dated. A traditional style will always be classic and it's up to you on what you like. This is your house and I wouldn't just go with the latest modern trend, for instance. Those too will look dated in about 10 years or so. 

In terms of quality, touch and feel it for yourself to judge if it's adequate for your needs and expectations. We've had factory made cabinets that were much higher quality than local, custom-made cabinets, as an example. We didn't know better at the time.  The custom ones looked nicer on the surface,  but the interior components were much cheaper.

I think the first cab is too fussy for any of the more modern looking quartz selections.

If you want that white cab choice, go w/a quartzite, something like shown here . Perla Venata

You can see how these cabs, while shaker, have more of a frilly, traditional look that wouldn't look as good w/a gray cement look.

here's a gray polished quartz w/standard white shaker. it's meh.

This is also a nice selection. I have this in my own kitchen.

I did the Serena on the perimeter, and marble on the island.

Mine were refaced w/45 degree beveled shaker (easier to clean) solid wood w/mdf center panels.

Or, look around for a natural stone like this grayish blue quartzite

I have IKEA cabinets and although I love them, the white cabinets did yellow over time. There are lots of complaints about this online.

You can select a white cabinet that is similar to a Shaker style that has a bit more personality.

I also think a greige color that falls between beige and gray can be a very nice selection for a kitchen. Easy to live with an not plain white. Works great with SS appliances.

Thomasville cabinets at HD are frameless and of good quality.

I would never go through HD or Lowes. you're paying a huge premium for them to be the middleman. for their prices, you could get custom-made cabinets from a local cabinet maker. (and have better quality). Plus, they measure exactly to your specs. Why not check w/that alternative?
