It's a bad year for many cultivars. You haven't had it for that long. See what it is like next year. It was a good year here for Ruby Spider. It is in a hospital bed I tend. Performance (in rather poor soil) is not as stellar as some report, and this year it was not as well budded (but certainly more than 5). Note it is semi-evergreen; could just be having a bad year.

I agree with Mantis. It is not a normal year and besides, it takes at least three normal years to see what they will do. It may well be great nest year.

Marigold - I grew Buttered Popcorn for many years in part shade, and it always had at least 10-12 buds here, many more in rainy Springs. It used to rebloom in October and November until frost came. If I were you, I would try it in a spot I was sure got at least 6 hours of sun a day.

Thanks Debra, it's in full sun most of the day. Maybe I planted it too deep? I'm thinking of replanting it but still in the general area.
