Thank you. We had thought about going four additional feet to the right, but then the door would be off center. Here is a wider picture, and yes, we would have the contractor install new gutters.

Agree with a bigger landing like Lyn suggests - you could do a nice exterior light and house mounted mailbox there as well as a planter

The offset door would be nice - keep the stairs offset as well and have a nice little sitting area . You would want to reverse the swing of the storm door.

That is a great project for your house!

I would try to extend the roof 2 ft and support it with wall brackets. A portico with posts could be too much for the house
