Sunken Patio in Narrow Backyard

I eventually want to finish our basement in our 1960s ranch to include 2 bedrooms for our kids. First step, where we currently are, is waterproofing the area and installing egress windows. I purchased 4ft x 4ft windows to be installed in the foundation on the backside of the house but I hate the idea of window wells and would prefer an open space to make the bedrooms feel not so “basement-y”. So I’ve decided on a “sunken patio” since we are already excavating around the foundation for waterproofing and window installation and we have no other purpose for our back yard so why not! It’ll be approximately 13x35 in our back yard. I’m thinking a stamped concrete patio with cement block retaining wall. I’m looking for advice, design recommendations, inspiration, pictures from other similar projects, etc. Though my cousin and friend are doing the work and won’t mark up materials or drag their feet to increase coats, I’ll still be paying regular wages and I definitely do not have an unlimited budget. So any cost saving advice would also be warmly welcomed! Thanks! Pictures of the backyard and current excavation progress!
