There are patches 3x4 ” that look like this

the closest I've ever seen before are plants that just emerged after winter.

enviromental factor is a lot rain far exceeding usual rainfall over a 3 week period. never seen this mid summer.

if i can get to it , i going to cut back the diseased patches unless you have other advice.
