a basic tenet of pruning.. is to remove all damage... so remove all damage ... and walk away ...

and next spring.. we can go in and look and see if any further pruning is necessary to restore it to shape..

there is no reason ,, an otherwise healthy plants.. should not recover.. after all ..... there was no insult to the root mass.. so what is going to stop this thing from going forward....

they will never be exactly what they were before.. and it should take more than a little pruning to get them back into a pleasing shape...

one caveat.. is that if you cut off a damaged 8 foot branch at 4 feet.. it may explode in growth at 4 feet.. and in a few years it might flop.. because of all the weight grown at 4 feet... so if you see them doing that i a few years.. then prune those back to about 6 inches.. and regenerate the growth form ground level...

this really isnt a big deal.. so dont worry about it...

after leaf fall.. if it does that for you.. you can take some pix.. and we can look at the structure.. and we might be able to make some future pruning suggestions...
