Hmm, it's a bit odd. Is it chlorotic? Soil looks dry, but bur oak is pretty drought-tolerant. My bur oak leaves get beat and eaten up a bit, but not discolored. Honestly, I don't know.

I don't think it's chlorotic. The veins aren't green where the leaves are yellow/orange.

It appears to be some sort of fungus or something. And the leaves look a little sun burned.

Bur oaks dominate this part of town so they should grow good here.

Watch and wait, I guess.

Couldn't see any with magnifying glass.

Couldn't shake any off on a white paper.

No signs like webbing or anything.

I notice something similar on my Quercus Ellipsoidalis trees. Mostly on the lower leaves on the tree. Could this be from having 80's mid-May and dry conditions to boot? idk.

I also noticed some of the oaks around town showing similar symptoms.

Almost like a leaf scorch. Again, mostly on the lower leaves. New growth higher up seems fine.

Over the last week or so, we've gotten a good 2" of rain, so otherwise, everything is looking healthy. :-)

The tree didn't die but even with supplemental water the small acorns aborted.

Some leaves were entirely a good shade of green.

I wonder if all the smoke in the air did something.
