Work station or make-up station

Strongly suggest a work station in the main bedroom but the client thinks a make up station is better?

I think I would need to know a lot more about the client. I do not like work stations in bedrooms ever so the make up station makes sense to me.

The client doesn't have additional space where we can put a work station anywhere in the house since the space is so limited. Both husband and wife are professionals that's why we had suggested for a workspace

We are both professionals but honestly I have an off becuse I need a drafting table but we use lap tops in the LR not in the bedroom. I still think you need to get more info from the client as to why the make up spac einstead .

I totally agree with you on that. Thank you Patricia.

Why is this even a question?

Give the client what she wants. Make it work. Or tell her you can't.

Built-in workstations like this (regardless of how they are used) read "college dorm" to me. Why not just utilize furniture for a desk space? Also, if I'm on a Zoom call, the last thing I want in the background is my unmade (or even well made) bed.

I don't see much difference between a workstation and a make-up station. They both require a surface, lighting and drawers. For a make-up station you add a mirror. The style can be different. Does the client want something that looks less like an office desk? Is that wall unit going to be custom made? If so, you should be able to get anything they want.

Not sure why you feel you know more about your client's needs than she does.

I have a sit down vanity area - I used to have a real vanity in the bedroom but when I remodeled I used the space for one of the sinks as a sit down vanity. For me it was that important to have a sit down place for my grooming needs as I don't want to stand up for hours bending over a bathroom counter.

Just because they are professionals doesn't mean they need a dedicated office space.

Also there really isn't that much difference between a makeup station and a work station because they are both essentially desks with some storage configured so if there ever came a need it could fairly easily be modified or it could serve dual purposes.

It seems like, if you are going to do a built-in, then it could realistically go either way. Just add a mirror and some storage and the client can decide or change it up depending on how they feel.

Why is this even a question? The client aka the one who will use the space (and the one paying for the job) wants a makeup space, but you think you know better what they should have?

Since the client wants a make up area, there you go. I personally have a vintage makeup vanity dresser I use in the my bedroom. I love it. I absolutely hate getting ready in the bathroom. Doesn't make sense to me. All my stuff is in the closet/dresser in the bedroom.
