It’s looking great! I too would leave the door as is until much more of the finishing work is done to see how you feel about it. I don’t see the garage so I don’t see how the entry door has to match and it’s not a rule. Look forward to seeing your updates!

It’s almost a rule that the front door NOT match the garage door. The garage door is not something to be highlighted but the front door IS.

Diana, I'm guessing it's gutter work with a typo.

Not a fan of the door‘s color with the ceiling, in the close up pictures. What are your plans for the porch, as that will have a big influence, but if going white, I thought these ideas might help.

Something similar will hightlight the lovely ceiling and feel more cohesive.

Picked a shade that feels close to the house(?), so you could see the combination.

Porch accessorizes will bump up the entrance, vs the focus being on the door only. I love the feel of the house below.

I’d paint the garage either same as the house or the front door, but only if it’s not a jarring color.

Would suggest a lighter tone of paint or wood than what you have. The only details you can make out in the door is the lites.

The ceiling and the door, definitely do not go well together. I would leave the ceiling, and repaint the door a brighter color. Garage doors can always be the color of the body of the house, or even white like your trim.

I have no idea without seeing the garage but to match the garage in not my first choice but IMO the whole over the top entry roof is not good . I need to see the garage and BTW IMO the sidelights are part of the door and I like the whole thing painted the same .Where did the mahogany ceiling choice come from ? I never like things just pluncked into places for no real reason. IMO the garage and the ceiling might have been okay matchen but I need to see the whole front of the house

I’m a fan of happy colored front doors. Your house is a lovely muted color with what looks like a wood-tone ceiling on the porch. There are many not-crazy-bright colors that would look fabulous with your house. The current color is kind of drab….

I dont like very bright colored doors though. The mahogany ceiling color came from another house that we liked. I do feel that the current front door color is a bit off and will probbaly change once we are done with the porch. Any additional suggestions for porch ideas are very welcome!! Thanks

I wanted to update you all on the latest pics, We haven’t changed the color of the front door. Will just leave it as is.

I would consider painting all the soffits to match the door..a small change that will unify the look of the home a little more….

I agree w/the btydrvn. painting those the dark color would really take it up a notch

not sure why you didn't continue the dark fascia all around the gables.

Thank you @Beth H.and @btydrvn for your suggestions. Will look into it, we are close to getting the CO, so will probably plan on painting this in the future. Infact it was never painted, it's the black gutter that gives that color.

Since you prefer dark doors, here are some ideas to consider:
Dark green. Deep red

Deep blue.

Maybe a deep nice blue
