Hi this is my wall to my office and I want ideas on how to make it more welcoming what should I add to the wall? Take them off? To the right is half a wall and the door, and to the left there are two god mirrors agains the wall. The wall across from this is a world beige map.

Don't get or do anything until you have a plan. Get a thin three ring binder. Include your categories - budget, ideas, vendors (stores), etc. Please give us a hand drawn floor plan with measurements. Also please tell us about your style - transitional? casual? farmhouse? If you don't know - that's ok! In top HOUZZ search box, put in (one at a time) different styles. See the pictures and note what you like and don't like. Just for an example, my style is eclectic. Here is what I would do with this room with what I see. Put the ceiling light on a dimmer. Ceiling lights make the room look like a doctors office. Lighting can be a multi layered effort that shows a beautiful atmosphere. For starters, put a table lamp or wall sconce in each corner at chest height. Take the wall shelves down. They don't look very practical up there. Color is important. Do you have any natural light in this room? If so, does it come from north, south, east, or west? The wall color is rather bland. If you keep it, that's fine but you'll have to do a lot of work to develop a unified and cohesive space. Do not get pieces here and there. I love to bring a lot of color into the room with extra large wall art. I would get everything out of the room and start to develop your plan.

    remove everything from the room.

Start with the desk, position it where you are most comfortable working at it.

(I prefer to look at the door, and welcome anyone entering the office. Some don't mind having their back to the door)

Do you need a backdrop for zoom calls?

do you have a proper lighting arrangement for calls?

Keep the room simple, no 'decor', it's a workspace. everything that shows can be attractive, style your office materials as decor.

Is this a private home office or an office in a commercial building where others will frequently enter to work with you? If it is the second, think about where visitors will sit.

I would be afraid of hitting my head on the shelves when standing up from the desk chair, so I would need to take down the middle shelf. But I'd probably take down all of them because they don't look like they can hold books or anything weighty securely.

I don't think the little etagere does much and it makes the office look cluttered and hard to move around in. It would be nicer if it was filled with interesting plants, but I don't think there is enough light in there for plants to do well.

If it is a private home office it is best to set everything up so you want to go in there and stay in there, and not feel when you walk in that you have to start cleaning up. So think about a "place for everything" and buy the storage you need to keep things tidy. And also have things you enjoy in there, like artworks or a very nice lamp or some exercise barbells!

Ifthis is an office that fellow workers will be coming in to see you, think about how you want them to see you as a co-worker. Maybe for your job it's best if they know you are a fun and energetic person, so get some candy and toys in there and bright colors, or maybe you want them to know you are very serious and always focused on the job at hand, so that's a diferent decor.

If you're not allowed to paint you still might be able to use peel-stick removable wall paper on one wall if you want a very bright and colorful space

wall organizers can really save space, help minimize desk clutter, and set the tone for an office. You can buy more than one and be very flexible about what colors you use and what appears to the eye

We need a floor plan, not a three ring binder. What furniture will be used/needed? TKe a picture of the map. Will you need a background for video calls?

Here are other photos of the office unfortunately the wall colors must stay the same

Take the shelves down. They are too small to be effective wall decor. I’m not loving the 3-corner shelf either, holding little doo-dads.

Do you have framed, hanging art? Again, not small. Landscapes would be nice. Motivational posters tastefully framed. I assume this is an office in an office building - how about something related to the specific business?

    These are cool. Cheap too.

I think the big flower drawings from Etsy that littlebug recommended above are very nice and could make the office feel more spacious. Even you need something more business-like or less feminine, still think in terms of adding more white to the walls. If something has words on it, try to make the white background large.

(and yes, take the shelves down and -- sorry! -- remove the little etagere)

Float your desk to face the door. Put up tall bookshelves behind your desk with bottom cabinets. Ikea and big box stores have these. Get a large art work to look at. Lose everything else except for a guest chair tilted to face your desk. Resist the urge to add anything else. You don't need mirrors in an office. This layout is inviting because it welcomes anyone coming in. There's a nice rug to anchor the space. The bookshelves provide storage and a way to display a couple personal items. If you can, add a desk lamp to create an even friendlier vibe.

IKEA has these individual floating box shelves if you need storage. You can arrange them in all kinds of combinations and buy doors for them too. Just make sure they are very secure to the wall if you want to put books or packs of printer paper in them

Nothing wrong with the colors of your office.

You need a backdrop that makes you look GOOD and makes you look ORGANIZED so that you appear to know what you're doing..

All this random c--p in your office makes you look neither.

Many offices have strict policies about bringing in personal items. It makes it all more complicated when they cut you to get you out of the space. Keep it professional.

    • Take down the mirrors. This isn't a house. Keep a small mirror in your drawer for quick touch-ups.
    • Place shelving within reach over your desk.
    • What's the map for? Do you require one for reference?
    • 86 the round fiber rug on the floor.
    • Add a plant.

One last thing: Bring a HEPA air purifier into that space to help stay healthy. One 300S Levoit would work, and I personally would add a Smart Air Qt3 desk top.

I doubt plants will survive without light and while I've nothing against art, your office is so small I don't know how anyone could actually look at a large impressionist print

As a supervisor (according to the butterfly-print paper sign), do you have access to a storeroom of office furniture? Check for two matching chairs, a narrow bookcase or credenza.

I don't think I'd find it very welcoming sitting opposite it: A painting too big for the space and a superivsor sitting in front of it. blocking my view of it.

If you float your desk and have either bookcases or great art on the back wall, with you sitting in front of it, this will give you a great background for Zoom meetings.

Forty years ago, my boss and I both had newly-created positions and were outfitting offices from scratch. He told me something I have never forgotten: pink staplers have no place in a professional office.

Years later, a co-worker got a Christmas present and proudly set it on the corner of her desk. It was one of those funky battery-operated stuffed cats laying in a basket. It appeared to be breathing. The absolutely most unprofessional, tacky thing I have ever seen in an office, bar none. She was a very sweet and smart lady but sooo immature.
