Lots of pretties! I really like Silky Skies and High High the Moon - so round and white! Nice clump of Ice Carnival, I love whites. I used to grow Ethel Smith, it is a cute one. I will check out Jury's Out, impressive.

I can't believe there is such a difference in IL and IA climates, I have Never had any daylily start in August.

Really don't like when sellers do that! I've heard that about Gilbert Wild I think it's called. I did buy from them once long time ago and everything was right and I still have one. And I call my mistakes "Seller's name NOID".

I'm with Nat. My favorites are Silky Skies and How High the Moon too! Organized Chaos looks like a nice one. I would just call it Salter's Organized Chaos. Siloam Ethel Smith is a cute mini.

I am not usually one for white, but How High the Moon is quite pretty. I had to look that one up. I also like S. Ethel Smith.

I am not really a fan of selling unregistered daylilies, let alone putting a name on those daylilies. I understand that hybridizers are trying to recoup some of their expenses, but it can lead to confusion and mislabeled plants. All of our rejects are mowed off and tilled under.

By the way, we always put a garden name on those Noids. We use the prefix Faux (meaning false) with the name it was supposed to be such as 'Faux Organized Chaos'. I would never put that name on it if I sold it (we sell unnamed ones at the Herb Fair) or gave it away.

Really difficult to evaluate things this season. I think, "Was this one always like this?" But decisions have to be made. The washed-out colors are frustrating, with bud count already down. But you (and I) probably had some very nice blooms. It wasn't a wipeout season. And it comes here right after a banner year. How High the Moon--does Celeste grow that one? Someone has pictured it here before.

The situation with the Salters selling unregistered daylilies involved illness in the family. They had intended to register those daylilies with those names and put them in their catalog, but Elizabeth's father and mother both developed serious illnesses that year, and then she did too. Apparently there was a mixup about whether the registrations had been sent in. "Wild at Heart" was one of those that I bought. Another hybridizer used the name for a registration, and about three years later it was registered with the name Wild Red Heart.

Mantis, I dont know if Celeste grows How High the Moon, no pictures from her of it on NGA. I wish she would post occasionally.

There have been bright spots in the garden this season with a few daylilies doing really well despite the weather. I just grew tired of the short scapes, this bothered me more than the bud counts.

What a sweetheart Ethel Smith is. I also like How High The Moon. Its large face and yellow throat add to the appeal. Forest god is always a winner for you. As to your Salter Noid, it is a bold color and that color shows off during the hot days of summer, so it might be a welcome keeper. I favor Salter daylilies, but unfortunately most are true SEVs and don't do so well with my pot system and our winters................Maryl

Sherry I'll reply about rebloom here.

It's nothing in comparison of course. It is always Instant Rebloom here, usually one scape, short(er) and with only a few buds (but I'll take it). Yes, pretty much happens every year. Some more often some only once and never again. Several seedlings here with instant rebloom but this year 2 named ones both sent 2 instant rebloom scapes which are normal height! Arctic Lace is one and Mount Ararat is another. Very pleased.
