Yes, but more energy will be used. This setting is present for homes with no hot water heater. The same effect can be had by putting a Wye splitter on the cold water line and running hoses from that to both hot and cold connections on the washer.

The reason I want to hookup with just the cold inlet is because I am connecting to bathroom faucet while washer is on washing machine stand. This is to replace portable washing machine ( GE ) which is HE design with washing plate design. Towels , bed sheets tend to be floating on top after cycle is complete ( even with extra rinse selected, extra spin selected ).
