LVP Flooring Direction for this Layout?

The rules or suggestions for flooring direction create a flip a coin scenario.


Any recommendations on the direction?

LVP in all spaces except bathroom and bed 2 and 3.



Left to right

  • Follows the longest wall suggestion
  • Flows with the direction you walk from kitchen to living to hall but not the direction as you enter the house
  • Flows to the fireplace
  • Doesn't elongate the up and down to make it feel wider


Up and down

  • Follows the paralel to primary light sources
  • Follow the perpendicular to the front door suggestion
  • Perhaps make the space feel wider
  • Perhaps more labor and material
  • Does not flow in the direction you walk through the house perhaps make the all feel choppy

    We have a similar layout and ours goes left to right, we went with going parallel to the longest wall (back wall) and straight down the longest hallway.
