Those table lamps are interesting, but do not work in that location.

The cabinet to the right of the fireplace is a nice piece, but it does not work in that spot at all. Too big and too close to the fireplace.

I love the proportions of your space! If you want to add texture, consider adding a potted plant, something significantly larger and taller than the small pot of grasses on the table beside the couch. A potted ficus would be a better fit for the scale of the room, and would add some color too. I would hold off on painting the fireplace surround until you've made other changes, to see whether it's necessary and decide what additional color the room needs, if any.

I also think the space between the TV and the couch in front of it would benefit from a rug, both to tie the furniture grouping together and to add some of that texture you're looking for.

As for lighting, I like the midcentury lights behind the sofa, but agree that there's something about that location that's not working. They might work better atop the cabinet, especially if you move the cabinet away from the fireplace, since right now you have a mass of furniture in a horizontal line from one end of the mantel to the other end of the cabinet; that cabinet would work better turned 90 degrees so it's against the wall behind the white armchair. You don't really need the height of those midcentury lights in their current position between the sofa and the window, since the windows are tall and offer a beautiful view, providing plenty there to draw the eye above furniture level. I can see you have a floor lamp to the right of that couch and that's a good position for some lighting, but once you move the midcentury lights out from behind the sofa, that space will benefit from a light with a bit more oomph, maybe something like this:

Some thoughts - agreeing that the lamps behind the sofa are in the wrong spot. The are striking, but aren’t working there so…let’s swap the lighting about. How would they go in the TV room? Do you have anything they could go on so they could sit either side of the tv cabinet? Keep the globes down in their brightness, as am envisaging soft lighting for TV viewing here. Bring the arc lamp with shade into the sitting room, to the corner behind the sofa and take the black metal lamp to the tv room and position over the sofa. Reposition the taller sitting room cabinet to the other wall, as has been suggested, and see how it goes. You have a classic selection of furniture, it might just be a matter of trying and testing locations.
