Board and batten vaulted wall…yay or nay?

We have a good sized master bedroom (18”x21”) with a vaulted ceiling. I’ve been wanting to spruce up our room and started searching for inspiration when I came across these pics. I love the idea of doing something like this as an accent wall behind our bed. But is this style in or out now? I know some will say do what you like and who cares about current trends. BUT trends are something I do try to be conscious of because we know this won’t be our forever home. We’re planning on staying here for another 7 years max. And it’s not an incredibly easy project with such a large wall. SO, if I get hubs on board to take on this project, he will probably want to divorce me if I ask him to change it again in the near future (ok I’m kinda kidding here but he will be super duper frustrated with me!)

I think there is no way of knowing what will appeal to a buyer 7 yrs from now I always tell my clients to do what they love if selling is more than 6 months down the road and that is my suggestion to you. I think the wall you show in green is quite a statement but ina more muted color that works with your bedding coul be just the right thing.

Thank you for your response! Oh of course there is zero way to predict trends. I’m just wondering if it’s already “out” trend wise. And pics are inspirations for the woodwork on the wall; not necessarily paint colors.

It is very appropriate and always “in” for certain house architectures, is your home craftsman or prairie or Tudor? It is very appropriate and always “in” for homes in certain settings, is yours by a lake, New England coastal town? Why would you do an accent wall when the obvious focal point is the ceiling - wouldn’t you prefer a few ceiling beams?

Why don't you show YOUR ACTUAL room? There are limitless ways to "spruce up" a bedroom......

Without additional context (it would really help to be able to see the actual room) I can say board and batten is not "out," shiplap is, except in certain circumstances. But it could certainly be out in seven years. Fashions in home decor seem to be cycling in and out quicker these days. Your best bet is to post a picture of your room and get suggestions that require less effort and are less risky for resale since that is one of your concerns. If you went to sell your house right now with a wall like that some people would love it, but some people would hate it. If you just use paint it's easier for people to imagine painting over it. However, if it's something you would love, then why not do it and enjoy it while you're there? You may find yourself living there longer than seven years.
