Replacement Storm Windows

last modified: 3 years ago

I own an all brick classic federalist style colonial and am completing some exterior updates (i.e., new roof, new custom shutters with hinges and shutter dogs, copper down spouts, etc). The house was built in 1963 in a classic style and has been extremely well-maintained. I want to maintain the original double hung 24 light windows (with tradition mullions) because I love the look they give the house and they are in excellent condition. However, I do not like the way the 1960 aluminum storm windows look. I am wondering if anyone can recommend a high end storm window replacement option? I am striking out with my builder and other window companies I have contacted. It seems everyone wants me to replace the windows (many recommendations for Marvin windows that can customize the mullions) or no one wants to do the work to replace just the storms.
