Hi Bev, those are beautiful picture! Great inspiration! For the horizontal trim - the panels (boards) are 8 feet long, so where 2 of the boards meet up there will be a small gap with z flashing for waterproofing.

I could either paint it white (only 1/4 inch shows) or cover it with the batten. Is that what you were asking?

How about showing a picture of the entire house without the trailer.

Unfortunately, it seems that trailer is a permanent fixture now. But I found an old pic on google maps

I don't post examples of board and batten siding because they're pretty.....they illustrate why they placed their horizontal seams and if they placed the batten dividing the gable or straddling the gable. Your planks are 8ft long, but we have no idea how wide or how the batten is delivered to you. Is it a separate item? Do you get to control the spacing or is it predetermined?

Either you line up the horizontal with the top of the garage door, which gives you problems with the wall next to the entrance. Or you line up the horizontal seam with the top of the dropped ceiling over the entrance.

The boards come in 4x8 sheets, and are smooth. The battens come separate in 2 inch by 12 foot lengths. We have total control where the seams meet. We can also space them however we want, as long as we cover the seams every 4 feet

I was worried that it would look off if the seam is at the top of the entrance, since it doesn’t line up with the other side ( the other side is at least 6 inches higher)

Are you sure you want to paint the bricks? They seem like they would go with white BB siding. Otherwise white... same as the house. And paint the front door for the accent color.

Battens are typically placed on studs for nailing, matching 16" OC, otherwise you'll have to install backing. The sheets will need backing at the joints, so they also are typically set to match studs OR you have to add backing.

Would you notice a home that didn't have the batts lined up with the ridge?

Not until now. Its a texture.

Remove the shutters and just paint the siding you have now you don’t have the alignment problem?
