kitchen Layout Advise

We are in the early stages of a major house remodel. The kitchen design is causing me some problems and I’m looking for some advise.

I'd have the stove positioned on the back wall with the fridge and tall cabinets for balance.

Thanks for the input. How much space in inches do I need between the island and where you put the sink? And also between the island and the pantry wall?

Trouble is the space isn’t huge.
    It’s only 12’1 x 13, Window wall is biggest at 15’5.

Tough with no measurements. You should update.

You've got a tight space. Designing for the space- Delete the full depth pantry. They're $1500+ and not that usable beyond a couple shelves. Make the frig counter depth at 28" Place a 12" deep plain shelve pantry on the side of the frig opening to the dining space. This creates a reasonable work zone to the right of the frig. Place a 30" induction range like a Bosch industrial with knobs on the back wall 12" to the right of the frig run. Place a 24" dw at the wall with a 24" sinkbase to the left. Use a undermount 24" single bowl with a 21" wide by 18" front-to-back by 9" deep interior space. More than adequate for sheet pans. This leaves a 30" 3 drawer pan cabinet and slightly lager work zone between the range and the sink. The smooth top of the range will make the space feel larger. Wide drawer cabs for all lowers including the island. You can leave the island clear or add a prep sink on the frig side. Plare and glass can be in island drawers. Trash in the island.

Thanks for the info, but I’m confused as to what wall you are suggesting for each item!

I also have a smaller sized kitchen and we remodeled our kitchen last year. Dan1888 has made great suggestions for the sizes of cabinets and appliances. We did away with our old full depth floor to ceiling pantry cabinet for standard depth lower cabinet and upper cabinet and swapped our full sized fridge for a counter depth and its improved both the traffic flow in and out of the kitchen and also given us a little more counter space.

We went from an old double sink to a single bowl sink in a smaller footprint, the size Dan1888 suggested, and it is roomy enough for all our largest sheet pans, racks and roasters. Hopefully Dan1888 will clarify his placement suggestions.

Best of luck with all your projects, I’m excited for you!

The frig stays on its existing wall. I don't know the dimension of that wall. The sink and range go on the existing range wall, the 12'1" wall. The window wall stays empty unless you want to make the window a bow window with a window seat or a doorwall with a patio door. 36" clearance to the island. 42" to the 28" frig leaves 39" for the island counter width.

Ideally you need 42” around island perimeter. Perhaps a square island will accommodate the space if more room for traffic is needed.

Size the island whatever is required for clearance, but what I'm trying to get you to see is the back wall should be your feature wall. Center the cooktop on that wall. Everything works from there.
