Kitchen Reveal - Before & After

Just thought I'd share some pictures of our new kitchen. A big thanks to this forum for the advice, inspiration and the knowledgebase. I learned quite a bit along the way and had a ton of fun. It was like Christmas almost every day!

Here's before and after...

That's a beautiful remodel! Out of curiosity, what are the two vertical rectangles against the backsplash behind the chairs?

Thank you Jenny. We're very pleased. Those are Sonos Era 100 speakers in stereo pair. Pics don't do it justice and the lighting is a little wonky due to time of day--not much natural light yet.

Beautiful!! Love the Frenchies :) And love the wall covering in the powder room. Enjoy your new kitchen!

The kitchen looks beautiful and very functional. I’ll admit when I saw the before pics, I wondered why you were remodeling, but I saw it in the after photos. I particularly like the much more substantial island, use of blue, and that powder room is perfection.

LOVE! Did you do the recessed lights differently? Also, would love a source/link for the runners and the tile. THANKS!

Thanks all. Sally, the runners are just Ruggable's. First time with them and so far, quite pleased. Wanted something we could clean/wash if needed. I know some may scoff, but we love the colors. The color is "Kamran Blue Quartz". The tile is sold under 3 names:

    1. Soho Studio - Myorka Blue

    2. Tile Bar - Montauk Sky

    3. Home Depot - Amagansett Sky

A lovely improvement! The floors look fantastic. Did you re-stain the floors (which in the Before pic look like Cherry), or did you replace them? If you re-stained them, can you provide some information on that process and what stain? If you replaced them, can you provide more info on that? TIA.

Your kitchen looks beautiful! Enjoy it

GORGEOUS!! I love everything you did!! Thank you for sharing! I'm curious about the floors specifically -- did you replace those and if so, what with?!

Bruce - thank you! Curious if you changed location/quality of recessed lighting? Thanks!

Very nice. Love the bathroom wall paper. Also love how neutral the kitchen is. If you ever get tired of black hardware you swap it and the rug out and have an entirely new kitchen. Perfect.

Gorgeous! We’re in the process of designing our kitchen remodel. Would you mind sharing how much it cost?

Thanks again. Have to credit Kris at #drivenbydecor for MOST of the inspiration behind this remodel. Love her blog, her taste, pretty much everything she does. Kris you rock!

Happy to answer any and all Q’s. In no way is this perfect and pros can/likely will be the first to point out mistakes or shortcomings, but we took this to our limit. I’m decisive. Know what I like. My wife, not so much. I drove most of this, kept an eye on what served our needs/family and most importantly, had fun. We have a fabulous contractor and let him rip.

    The basics

Sally, sorry I missed the lighting Q. We removed (1) recessed light I believe. We also painted ceilings a SW soft flat white. They were formerly SW Accessible Beige. Lights are all Philips Hue Color/white ambience BR30 and tunable.

I LOVE the powder room so much!

Sorry, that list is buggered. I’ll fix when I can get in front of a PC.

Pretty kitchen, and that’s quite a fridge!

Gorgeous kitchen and PR!!! Love how everything is so inviting, light filled and customized in terms of to the ceiling and it now has a better fitted island in comparison to the original. The space looks much taller, larger and better porportioned now. The blue accent color is perfect!

Onet of the best remodels I’ve seen on this forum. Anyone considering remodeling should save this for inspiration!

Thanks for the info. Can you also say what brand and model your exhaust hood is?

M Miller, it is a Wolf 54” Pro chimney wall hood, with 1200CFM blowers (2x 600) and then make up air vent and ductwork comes up under the island.

Great job, so much countertop space and cabinets! The tall ones must be your pantry. I put that range in my last kitchen, thats a lot of power! Enjoy!

@bob - the flooring in the bathroom is the same as throughout. It is Hallmark Alta Vista in "Malibu".

Just beautiful! And that's my dream fridge!

I've been to Malibu quite a few times and that flooring is aptly named!

Thanks @littlegreeny! We’re super happy. The fridge is awesome. I had to lobby a bit to convince my wife, but no regrets. Pics just don’t do all this justice— at least not with my camera skills.

How many inches is the overhang with the stools? Are those counter-level or bar-level?

A D, the quartz overhang is 13.5in and the Serena & Lily stools are counter height. They are not quite pushed in as far as they can go (intentionally).

Hi Bruce, would you mind sharing info on the PR vanity, lighting, and mirror?

@anna_682 you bet. Here you are:

    Vanity

    Vanity Mirror

    Vanity Light

Wish we had the room for a ~30" vanity, but it just would have been too tight. There are so many more options in a 30, but we're happy with it. Looks good and is built well. The mirror for the price is extremely well built and we love the light.
