I would also paint the alcove back wall (just the wall, not the sides, a deep color you love, Navy, Black dk. Green, Aubergine... easy on the eyes for viewing, and an interesting statement.

I actually do not like frame TVs to hang them to fool the eye is to have the TV too high . I love Besta from Ikea for this purpose you could do that whole wall with TV, some storage and even a bit of display but I have no idea of your actual style .Waht I really like is the ability to put the pieces together for a totally custom look for what you need. Comes in different finishes you can mix them

My favorites are the ones that use background finishes to frame the TV. (Not framing the TV itself - creating a stylish background for the TV to be mounted on that acts as a backdrop for the TV.) I’m all about drawing attention to the TV with no distractions.

You can put any kind of credenza underneath. I prefer closed storage if possible.

You can even get creative with speakers and subwoofer shapes, if you haven’t chosen those yet. In some cases, you might want some open storage for the speakers.

You can absolutely do a gallery wall of art/photos and slip a big Frame TV in at the appropriate height. I did it years ago before Frame TV. When I get back into my home after the fire restoration it will be even better. I was able to remove all that ductwork by using in-ceiling heat pump slim cassettes.
