Just the wall behind the mirror?

Are you wanting to replace the Emperador Brown marble including the niche where the mirror is?

What other colors in the room are we working with?

I just want to say I think the mirror you chose is perfect for that space - color, size, everything!

No I plan on keeping the marble. The paint color is SW latte.

The painting idea is good above and then if you wanted to, you could add a pretty vase/pottery or something to the left of the mirror on the mantel with some color in it. I would also add something on the left of the hearth where it is not symmetrical. Could be an interesting basket with some twigs in it or something, or a plant...you could also make it tall enough to hide the electrical outlet on the wall.

Yes, it's not exciting, but it's classy and very well done. I'm not sure I'd mess with success.

Wallpaper entire firepl wall, but not insert leave that gray. A new art piece with color, would help too. There is mural wallpaper that looks like reclaimed wood. Very nice.

The brass on the fireplace is competing for attention with the mirror and the marble. I would paint that a flat black with metal paint. That alone will make a big statement. Then I agree with a darker paint behind the mirror. Then address the mantel and see if that needs a darker paint as well, perhaps a black, or not. One step at a time to see what works.
