I have considered Little Blue Stem. Do you have any pictures?

I have been looking at that one as well. Would love to see photos. I also planted 7 Karl Forester…..love the height and light airy bloom!

Lovely. Are those pics of little or big bluestem? About how tall and wide do they get in your garden?

@afrocraft 'Standing Ovation' is a cultivar of Little Bluestem, Schizachyrium scoparium.

I have a horrible feeling that I yanked out my schizachrium while forking out the vasty amounts of brome grass which infests my plot. Had forgotten all about it until reading this post (when a dreadful realisation dawned). This will probably not be the only mangled plant as spring weeding progresses!

I used to get sucked into buying grasses in autumn. They did not have time to establish snd never made through winter.

Last year i remembered to purchase and plant ” standing ovation” in early summer. That one didnt come back this spring either. Im discouraged but my garden really needs some grasses. Im going to take a big division of hakone grass next spring from a happy patch elsewhere and try that. However it wont have that strong upright effect that gives a ’soft’garden some backbone.
