Need help with integrated recirculating rangehood in the cupboard

Hi All

I purchased a Westinghouse rangehood model number WRI500SB which is integrated.

The kitchen that I have does not allow for a deducted rangehood as I have very high ceilings and a connecting wall.

When I purchased the rangehood I told the salesperson that I need it to be recirculating

The Westinghouse has the option to be recirculating with the purchase of carbon filters.

I have purchased the carbon filters and my electrician has installed these.

At the moment, when the fan is turned on, air goes into the cupboard from the top of the rangehood.

I have attached pictures below.

Can you please tell me if there are any additional accessories that I need so that the rangehood can recirculate properly? There was nothing in the box.

I have rang Westinghouse a couple of time and they have no idea!

Yes, to recirculate implies the filtered air getting back to the intake from the outlet. Often this is done using a grill as part of the recirculation assembly. In this case, however, I would run duct from the outlet shown in your image to the top of your cabinet (opening toward the ceiling) and let the air flow back into the room. (Requires some more duct and three holes drilled in the cabinet parts.) A fancier approach would be to duct to a register box and thence into the room through a register or diffuser.

I sit incredulous that none of the professionals you interacted with brought up the need to fix the obvious blockage of the existing setup.

Recirculating requires a duct and grill to exit into the room. The air will not move unless it has a place to exit.

The hood installed for recirculation is shown on page 5 of the Installation & User Manual. As @kaseki described above, you will have to
1. Cut holes near the rear of the two shelves
2. Cut another hole in the top of the cabinet
3. If needed, add enough 120mm duct to reach the...
4. ...AR125WV vent kit* which you will attach to the top of the cabinet.
*or similar. Lots of AR125WV on ebay.com.au
