I live in Canada no one I know has pavers for a drivway too much movement with freeze and thaw but where do you live? I see no way to have any sealer that will stand up on a driveway. What does the company who did the work suggest?

Regarding the sealer, it would be important for you to contact the manufacturer and ask how many freezing cycles is their product tested to survive. If they did not explicitly test for freezing I would find another product. Also, be aware that some surface sealers interact negatively with polymeric sands, so you will need to ask about that.

I would hope your contractor understood about freeze/thaw cycles, but in your climate, you would need the base layer under the pavers to be quite deep, and I would have filled it with 3/4 inch and 1/4 inch crushed stone/gravel, without any fines.

Maybe someone with more construction experience than I have could explain does a paver driveway need to have a base that goes below the frost line for the area. In parts of Canada, that might be more than five feet deep. In Toronto, the frost line might be four feet. If the bottom of the paver base is above the frost line, that driveway is going to start to be distorted after just a few seasons. The subgrade soil under the pavers would expand during freezing, and during the thaw cycle, it would not necessarily assume the old shape.
