I would not change the paint color (at least for now). Plan the layout first. I like this one (but not the coffee table).

There isn't a need for two large sofas. One against the wall opens the space up.

Start with a rug for color inspiration.

The rug is, IMO, gorgeous for the price. It is from Wallmart. You would want a pad under it...felt).

Change the floors. Gray wood is harsh, cold, unnatural, and hard to work with. The paint isnt half bad.

The floor was pink and yellow tile before this and had mold underneath. Passed inspection and my parents bought it that way. So we can’t afford to redo the floors now since they were redone not too long ago with the plank that was affordable

But I highly agree with the floor change. I see the big issues but my current one is the paint. The flooring will come after couches and decor

I think you are putting the cart before the horse .Paint is easy to get to go with almost anything but flooring comes in finite colors and has a huge effect on wall color. IMO you get the floor then maybe even the furniture and then choose wall color. If you must then I love this color cut 25050% for all the walls it is a true neutral and honestly goes with everything maybe even the floors that will depend more on your MOm's style I do not hate them.

I think I have a better sense of direction on this project now that you’ve all provided me with so much helpful input.

I really wish I could change the floors right now, but my parents have gone through so many financial hurdles lately that it’s just not in the cards at this moment. However, as soon as it becomes an option, I do plan to replace with actual tile (porcelain, ceramic) in a warm beige shade. Then, I could worry about wall paint.

@elcieg: I really love that rug that you recommended up top, the colors are very calming, and I think they will fit well with what she has at the moment, a couch in a similar shade I believe is something that she would go for, and the way that you also pointed out how to organize the home really makes a lot more sense. I appreciate all the work you did for me! Full transparency, I remember seeing your username on a post for someone else and you made a lot of sense there, too.
