How close together are the windows, and how big are they?

We have poured concrete window wells in the house we bought 2 years ago (built in 1995). In our first winter, I shoveled out the window wells 4 times, and pulled out 2 dead rabbits.

My first project for spring as to get custom window well covers (since nothing off the shelf would fit). Well worth the money! Second winter: we had a LOT of snow, and I had to shovel off the top of the window well covers, but that was a heck of a lot easier than shoveling the whole thing. And no dead critters.

My point is that covering two window wells - even big ones - is likely easier than covering one.

@AnnKH Snow!!! I had not yet thought about that, we do live in a snowy climate and these are on the E side which tends to hold snow. We are in SLC — where are you?

What im thinking about now is galvanized with some plants at the window level…

Our egress window is 12' wide. Two other window wells are 10' wide. As per the architect's drawings, we will have the landscaper build them with pressure-treated lumber. When we backfill, we will preserve the space with plywood forms.

We were considering custom steel wells, but the price and weight were prohibitive. I like the wells below if there were in the size we required.....but then they'd probably weigh too much to be practical to install manually.

Just a memory your question shook lose from my old brain. We moved to a new home with window wells when I was 6 or 7, and the house bordered open field with pond. Lots of frogs. I caught tons of them and decided the window well was the perfect place for them. My poor dad did not agree.

You might do better to build something that wide yourself, andn then just have a cover made.
