Is there any chance of you revisiting the site and getting updated photos?

Do you remember the texture of the leaves? I would say this is Packera plattensis, but the leaves should have pubescence. There are whitish leaf patches in the photos suggesting possible pubescence? A biennial or short lived perennial. I'd say the stem matches that description. Looks like the stem was broken, and new growth has started.

I have never seen Packera plattensis but images show it with alternate foliage. OP's plant is opposite.

Oh dear. Im getting sloppy with leaf arrangement. I may have to call in the big guns for this one.🤠
