Here is updated pic of the 42” Nook

It 'fits in the nook" - so what it is wider than the med cabinet?

"FITS IN THE NOOK".....and what about baseboard and has that nook been checked/triple checked for plumb and true 42 in width in 90 places? Those walls will not budge 1/32 of an inch.

Thanks for that, Jan. I’ve just never seen fixture to be wider than mirror. In pics I’ve seen, it is typically the same or slightly smaller. But I’m going to get it now :)

And vanity will hopefully fit (fingers crossed). If not, I’ll need to have a Plan B and get a 36” vanity or order something custom :(

You tiled........yes? Bet it is a NO fit. Go custom, or go down to 30"/36" and be able to get a mop or rag in at the sides.

Why must the light be a now decision? You can't even guarantee you have 42 inches, right?

For some reason, Jan is fixated on your vanity and whether it will fit in the niche.

Usually lights are smaller than mirrors. But I'll look for some examples -- my first instinct is that if it too went wall-to-wall, it might look ok/intentional. But otherwise, I feel like it might look like an accident.

I did not find anything that looked like they were even contemplating wider lights, unless they had a mirror that ran wall to wall. More often they're aligned with the sink(s). But it might look just fine -- here's an eyeballed mockup so you can see.

You should have no difficulty finding something that's 30" wide, should you decide to go that way, athough with LEDs you need to be sure you're getting enough lumens.

Okay! You go right ahead and ask any custom cabinet guy, if he will build to a "42" niche without FILLER. He will laugh you out of the shop.

So yeah, now is the time. To verify. Cut a piece of plywood to that exact width, shove it in the tiled niche, in three or four places and no less. Keep me posted : ) and good luck

I would wait on the light until after vanity is settled. I had a 72” vanity for a 72” nook space, only for GC to discover side walls were not plumb. So had to use side splashes to fill uneven gap. Ugh.

Rare is a perfectly plumb wall. A good GC acting as tech AND designer....doesn't let you buy a 72 inch ( online ) ready to install vanity for a 72 inch niche.

You're lucky you had gaps, and in a tight space or for custom cabinetry fitted into in a niche? You need those side splashes. : ) it's a wet space.

Ok helpers. I found fixture that is 27”Wide. Is that better because it’s closer to the 30”W mirror? Will proportions look ok?
