How many canned lights and what size?

We are planning to get canned lights in our living room. The ceiling has beams and so we’re trying to determine how many and where to position them. There are sixteen spaces for lights in the grid of beams. 12 of the spaces are rectangles and could potentially have two canned lights each. Do we go with 16 (one in each space) or as many as 28 (two in 12 of the spaces and one each in the four smaller spaces along the wall)? We are also in doubt about the size is the canned lights to use - 4 inch or 6 inch. Electricians have recommended as few as 8 and as many as 28. Thanks.

The room is 30 x 15. An online calculator indicated 18-22 lights.

IMO lighting is not all from one source and I think pot lights are only one level of lighting . I think I would do one in each space so 16 then get to work on the other levels of lighting you need in the space . That is a very large room so how do you plan to lay out the furniture ? The pics you posted are horribly distorted so retake those so the space is realistic. You need floor lamps , table lamps all add to give you good lighting everywhere not just from the ceiling.From what I see th room is very cluttered so so I really need to see the actul space . Post the new pics here in a comments DO NOT start another post. BTW 4" pots are as big as you want to go.
