gorgeous plant.. that has probably been in the family a decade or more...

but its now touching the ceiling... have you come up with a plan?? .. propagation of the growth tips.. and/or.. renovating from the lower trunk ...

and then what do you do with a dozen new plants.. lol.. xmas gifts for the kids ... get to work soon.. or they will have to be easter gifts.. lol ...

Ken, I got this plant within two years time. Yes, I will make stem cuttings. They are easy.

It was never even outside. I Summer most all of my plants outdoors in the Summer, but this one was just in the basement under artificial light and then I brought it upstairs to some natural light. It's a nice species/variety of Dracaena. Leaves are relatively short so good for a vertical corner.

Beautiful, 41!! I'm a Dracaena-phile too! I have all of those that you mentioned, except warneckii. And I have Riki, Hawaiian Sunshine, Tricolor, Lemon-something, surculosa (Florida beauty), and feel like I'm forgetting somebody. I haven't taken a pic of some of them for years. These pics are from within the past couple months.

I had something called White Jewel a few yrs ago but I haven't seen it lately. I move pots around so much, and combine so many plants in individual pots, I don't know where all of my plants are sometimes.

I keep checking the Riki's and Massangeana for inflorescences starting to form but nothing yet. It's almost time!

Ha, Ha, I don't know where all my plants ara either! Most of my super tropicals are still outside getting the last of the summer rains. I get real lazy in the autumn and usually it's a gentle season here anyway, no sudden frosts, just a gradual temperature decline to December.

I have one dracaena and I think it is D. massangeana. I think I have had it for about 25 years or so. I currently put a post out asking for help with media. Perhaps you will comment on that?

I just recently received another of the same plant. It had grown too tall and the people didn't want it anymore. I have put the top in water and have rooted the top in the past successfully. What methods have you used to propagate the stem?

I use water for a lot of things but don't put woody trunks in water to root. Plenty of others have reported success with that.

Dracaenas are easy, just stick the cut stem into a pot, all the way to the bottom. I usually have to cut at least a dozen stems to keep them short enough to come inside for winter. The pots are getting so full from having more and more stems added.

So I am now a little worried that my stem cuttings in water won't survive. I have 4 in water and 1 in soil. I think I just might transfer some of those in water to soil and see what happens! So that will possibly be the "new" method: start off in water, then change to soil!
