The nearest windows are on the opposite wall about 10 feet away so the area I want to put a plant in gets indirect light.

indoors that would be considered no usable light... indirect light would be if you were foot to the side of a large undraped window...

is there any chance you could use a plant light across the room from the window...

otherwise.. just keep buying cheap plants and killing them.. until you find something that will survive the lack of light...

i have grown a myriad of plants over the years.. and frankly.. no pet was interested in any of them... they might take one bite.. but they learn quickly enough.. that they arent pet food...

LOTS of houseplants are recommended for low light conditions. Snake plant, ZZ plant, lucky bamboo, peace lily, spider plant, pothos, pretty much any kind of fern and a bunch more. Extensive online lists available.

Some are very toxic to pets if they munch on them and some are completely harmless. My houseplants are out of reach of my pets (who also have never shown any interest in them) so I don't track toxicity but it is easy to find out.
