Let’s talk practicality first. Can you reach any of the wall cabinets? Might be the angle but they look too high to use. Also, do you need a new boot rack and what space do you have for it?

To the right of your sink, could you get a piece of inexpensive countertop material cut to size and put it up with brackets? Maybe a shoe rack could fit underneath?

I would not worry about the aesthetics. Your fire engine red machines, artwork, and rug steal the show already.

What kendrah said about a countertop custom-fit to the right of the sink. Perhaps with a shelf underneath to slide laundry basket(s) onto. If you mount the countertop high enough you could get a basket (or two) under there in addition to the shoe rack. Google laundry room basket shelving.

I remodeled a laundry room and mounted closed cabinets above my tall w/d like yours. I used those cabinets twice - once when I put stuff in there and again when I moved out. They were too awkward to use.

If there's a window, put a potted plant in. If there's no window, consider a free-standing coat rack. It will fill the space and you can hang stuff on it. Something like the thing next to the door in this pic. Since they aren't used as much any more, you can get really nice ones in vintage/salvage/antique stores sometimes.

The space to the left of the washer would be nice for a broom and vacuum, or put a rod between the cabinet and wall for hanging clothes.

What else do you anticipate using the room for?

We don't store clothes hampers in the laundry room - they are kept in bedrooms. There is just one basket in the laundry room at a time, while those clothes are in the machines, and We just put the basket on top of the dryer (our washer is top load).

I really like the red machines and floor mat. I know storage pedestals under the washer/dryer are popular. But have you considered removing the pedestal/high overhead cabinet and installing a countertop over the machines (for folding clothes, etc.) with open shelving above?

Love the color of yiur machines. if it were my room i would lower thr high white cabinets- these seem way too high to be useful. hang hang some hooks on the wall and skip the sign. let the machine color shine and keep the rest understated and classic.

Could you possibly put a full extension countertop across the top of both washer and dryer? More space for supplies and folding clean laundry. I did that with mine 11 years ago. My machines were separated by an inexpensive bathroom sink and underneath became the space for the litter box. We cut an outline of a cat in one of the doors, and she comes and goes as she pleases. I love your machines, course I love the color as well.

My thoughts are to put a rod to the right of the cabinet over the sink, where you can hang things that need to be dried. Next to the sink, if you don't need a hamper, then some kind of storage rack that would be useful to the household. Or a piece of fold-down counter for folding (or drying flat). So many possibilities!!
