Cabinet colours

We had selected Aristokraft's winsted maple burlap cabinets for our new built.
Now that it's installed, not only does it look darker we also feel that they may have used a different stain (darker) cabinet on the island. Is it just me or do you guys see the same in the pictures? What's the right way to go about this?
Has anyone used the same style/stain from Aristokraft, please do share the pictures.

Do you still have the sample you used to make your choice? I would take a door from different cabinets and put them next to each other. Did you bring this up to your designer or builder?

The sample I don't have but I do have the pictures from the design centre. I did tell the project manager from the builder and he couldn't see the difference but said he'll let the cabinet company know. Attaching the pics from design centre.

I believe it is the lighting in your room.

they do look like the sample you show. It is like everything else, Dye Lots vary.

But the lighting has more to do with the color difference than you might think.

The show room lighting is generally not going to give you a true color.

Your first photo looks darker but the second looks about right. Photos on your monitor are no guide -- you have to compare in person. Yours is also on maple?

It is your lighting. It's the same stain.

@acm: yes, ours is also maple

On my screen it looks like a completely different stain. It not only looks darker but has a cooler tone with hints of red. The sample you checked has more of a yellow tone. Yes lighting can play tricks on you. And I too have been the victim of that. But this looks really diff to me. Try the comparison test suggested above and let us know.

Looks like the same stain to me. The photos from the design center have much better lighting and even natural lighting in the one photo with the window. Besides the lighting difference, the color perception of the cabinets in your kitchen is heavily influenced by the dull gray of the raw concrete floor and unfinished drywall walls & ceiling. All that gray is causing the cabinets to look dull and ashy.

Update: we discussed this with our builder, the design centre sent a sample to match with the installed cabinets and they do match! Some relief!
