Built ins on a wall like this???

Our new home is riddled with drywall cutouts and plant ledges and it's been a HUGE challenge to figure out how to bring it up to date. Ideally, we'd like to add built-ins to this wall because we need the storage, but would it look crazy with the ledge above it? We COULD run the drywall all the way up to the ceiling and close off the ledge, however, the wall directly in front of it is the exact same so we'd have to do both and I feel like that would optically shrink the room. I'm pretty stumped and would love your input about what to do with these ledges and also how built-in's might look on a wall like this. TIA!

No built-ins. This is not the location to make things more complicated. Select furniture items that meet your requirements.

Select a long sideboard with storage inside

Or if you wish to display items then select a modular china/display cabinet

Yes, the table can be turned. It would create a tighter dining situation, but its doable

If it were my space I'd leave it along. Looks very lovely right now and think you will be sorry you lost the multiply-layered architectural detail

Also, are you looking for glass storage to display things? I wouldn't wreck the room for that.

I would run dry wall up to the ceiling and get rid of the planter shelfs on both walls. I had friends that did that to some similar shelfs in their house and it looked so much better. Those shelfs are just dust collectors. The house did not feel any smaller.

It does not look like you have room for shelfs on that wall. Just seems like shelfs would be too close to the table. It could just be the angle of the picture. Could you take a few more pictures of the room. I really like what you have done to the room so far. It is very calming.
