Help with exterior

I’m a student and was asked by a friend to do a rendering and create an exterior design. They’re looking for a rustic mountain design. I’ve gotten to the basic concept but it’s feeling a little lack luster. Any advice?

Rendering of what. A house is designed with the interior and exterior all working together . So where are the interior designs that are supposed to work with the exterior. IMO too much garage the windows are odd in placement and size . If this is an actual mountain home too many gables for snow country . So yes it is lack luster and needs the interior plans to understand the exterior that is just wrong IMO

Is it a mountain design that will actually be in the mountains? If so I imagine it would include great views/windows included in the design based on its elevation and direction it would be facing. Good luck!

IMO that elevation could benefit from some continuity. Keep the pitch on all the roofs the SAME!

Lots of non-operating windows on your design.

The floor plan is set and isn’t my design the only non functional window is the false dormer over the garage. The other windows will be double hung or sliding beside the picture window above the front door and the large picture window under the porch. the pitch on the roofs are 8/12 on the decorative gables and 6/12 on the main. Here’s the floor plan

That single car garage is the bane of my existence it is at such a weird angle. here’s a birdeye view although I haven’t done the back but it will be fairly simple.

Let me start off by stating that I am not a pro. I think the window in the office needs to be centered. I would extent the stone under the porch on the right side to match the porch roof line. It will give some symmetry to the front of the house. Leave the one car garage on that side as siding. Have they thought about adding a sink to the hair salon?

Here’s a little update. Of course still a work in progress.

I see what you are saying and it really helps thanks!

Your entryway is way too busy. It's symmetrical, but you've put in two different sidings and windows that are not symmetrical. The columns interrupt the window. The second leftmost window is off-center. The tiny window in the gable is off-center. The nested gable on the left means that you can only put a tiny window on the second floor. This is okay, if it's an attic, if not, lose that look. The right side of the house looks odd. The single car garage is sticking out at an odd angle that doesn't fit the rest of the house. If the site were right, having a wide U shape with a symmetrical angle on each side of the secondary masses might look good. The column at the far right is just odd.

Decide if you want symmetry or not. Stick with your choice.

Just an experiment with the roof.
