I’m not sure of your decorating style, but I like your rocking chairs and would spread them out a bit, within the middle of the two windows, with maybe a small table between them? I might even consider getting another pair and having a sweet sitting area on each side of the front door. Or a bench.

I’d also add potted plants on the porch, and more landscaping in the beds below.

If you haven’t already, do searches for front porch decorating ideas — it might provide some inspiration, especially for holiday decor.

I’d just wait until all construction stuff is gone, and see how it all looks bare, as well as decide how you’d like the porch to look and function. (Plus any landscaping updates you do below.) Lots of possibilities!

Well, it’s just personal preference — I wouldn’t put anything there. You might have a wreath or something else on your door, things on your patio, etc … I think it would look best bare. The shakes look nice, as does the window above, I don’t think anything else is needed up there.

Thank you so much. I’m not sure about rockers yet I had bought the same color to paint the rockers just bc they needed it. Then we got hit by tornado and that was low on my list of things to do, but I will get on fixing up porch later. Any suggestions are welcome

I’m so sorry about the tornado damage! We got hit by one this past spring (Texas) and had to get a new roof, gate to the backyard, etc, but nothing inside was damaged. Our back yard was full of all kinds of stuff from the neighboring homes; it was wild.

Hope all your family is ok! I’ve been in two tornados in my life, not fun.

Thank you I’m sorry you got hit too. We had lots of damage inside and out. We were also hit in the Spring and just now getting it done. It has been a nightmare, but no one got hurt and that is the main thing

I would hang anything in that area. Leaving it uncluttered would be my vote.

Would you be able to wire up a lantern hanging down in the area you circled? Match it in style to your two side lights.

Are there going to be handrails on the steps? They look unusually steep.
