I don't know the construction implications or pros and cons, if there are any, for doing a marble apron. I do think it looks lovely and custom though. Is this going to be a shower/bath? If so, will you be using a shower curtain and might that cover up the apron look?

I love alcove tubs but not tiled fronts of them . I use Maax a lot for alcove tubs they have a nice simple front that looks nice and requires no tile . Now you have the tub IMO keep the tile as simple as possible IMO the tub you show in the bottom pics cannot be tiled unless there is some way to remove what is there .

I decided against it for the following reasons which may not apply to you:

(1) wanted the extra space between tub and toilet

(2) need to sit on the tub edge to wash the dogs more easily

(3) floor tile did not match shower wall tile so it would have looked weird

I had shower doors on the tub in the previous house, but chose a shower curtain for the current house because it was a lot more comfortable to sit on the edge of the tub to wash the dogs. It’s a more casual house. The other bathroom will be a walk-in shower with glass doors.

The shower doors with bottom tracks can build up with gunk. I don’t know how your installation will affect grout on the edge surface. Sometimes they use a solid surface for that threshold.

Thanks for you replies Really appreciate some input and advice. We are taking these old tubs out and replacing them with either a wood apron front design that can be tiled or a regular acrylic tub with the front apron that is acrylic.
