backsplash advice

Hi! I’ve recently put in new white shaker kitchen cabinets with black hardware and Luna Pearl granite countertops. I need advice with my backsplash! 🥴
I’ve narrowed it down to 3 options… The tiles are in the same order on the countertop and on the floor. I included the floor picture to show you what the wall color is. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

I'm not feeling this cool color against the floor. Going with a simple tile definitely is a good idea with all that energy in the countertop and the floor. Do you have extra flooring that you can take a piece of it and your samples outside and see if the lighting in the kitchen is messing you up? I would take a piece of that flooring with you and look at colors that are a little warmer, maybe a taupe?

Well, the floor will be replaced when I have the $. Right now it’s just a cheap linoleum that was in the house when I bought it. Hope to get the floor replaced next year!

In that case then I think #1 is too dark. Both #2 and #3 would work, but I would lean warmer which I think is #3. Design trends (at least this month) are leaning away from grey and to the warmer side so a warmer tile would be more versatile.

Here is a great website for a master's class in lighting, as that will bring everything to life: https://languageoflight.blog/ Go to the older pages to find the kitchen articles.

Consider a great runner to minimize the linoleum and maybe bring some color in.

the very white cabinets with black hardware keeps everythng in the cool arena. I'm not seeing how a warm tile really works . sometimes a color removes that dilemna.

the first two color tiles work a lot better than the third where they tried for a warmer/ off white tile.....Have you looked at the "greens" there are so many great optins w that.

My initial thought was a green… but then everyone I told, told me no. 🥴

I also like darker colors. I’m just so overwhelmed at this point… 😩

    Or even darker?

Bring in more samples. its a process…very typical . the dark give things a pop.... green could be really nice ...more quiet and pretty. I would place paper or cardboard down on the floor. You are going to have a different floor sooner rather than later.....I wouldnt let ambers and browns affect this decision.

Don’t do the backsplash until you do the floor. Just clean up the drywall and paint it with a good washable paint.

Among these three colors I like the darkest one with the counter, but if you have only the one under cupboard light over the sink i’d look for a lighter backsplash option. The current amount of light on the counters appears only marginal.

A color such as green might work if it carries over into other rooms.

if you are feeling overwhelmed, let this rest fora bit. you can figure it out in time.

I like the middle of the darks herringbone with grey grout picture. Down to the counter. Dark switch plates.

Add the under cabinet lighting NOW. It's a necessity. Then choose something dark, in an interesting shape. Like Daltile's Color Wheel Retro line. Lots of interesting shapes there.

Or Miramo in Sand, pulls out the warmth that is in Luna Pearl, and with a warm wood look floor, saves it from descending into being too gray.

Since there is a a lot of variation in your counters, I'd recommend checking the color variation level for any tile you look at. (Levels go from the lowest V1 to the highest V4.) For V3 and V4, getting one sample tile won't show you a true representation of what an actual install will look like. For example, in the second picture posted by @herbflavor, the tile shown is a level V1. Personally, I think you'd be happier with a tile like that than with anything rated a V3 or V4. The example below is a V4, which I think would look very busy next to your counters. Your samples might all be V1 already, I would just encourage you to double check the specs when you look at tiles.

I agree I love a lighter look on the backsplash and do more simple because the granite countertops are busy and I would personally not want to detract from the countertops
