Oak......

That was my first thought.

Vintage American furniture, possibly Thomasville, Drexel, American of Martinsville, etc...1970's80's. It does look like oak, but if I am correct with the time line, it is pecan with contrasting inlays. Fruit wood was a big thing then...I know because everything I bought was pecan. Wood was gorgeous but not so all the styles. I like the earlier fruit wood pieces...50's, 60's...simpler design.

I paid $50.00. It's solid and only has a slight blemish on the top.
