If you keep the brick, I would change all the shutters to white. I think that would be more cohesive.

The black shutters are severe against the brick. Something softer, but still contrasting might work better.

Look at SW Urban Bronze. It’s a brownish grey. Or Raisin, which is a brown with red undertones.

My brick house is also challenging (kind of orangey brick with some brownish black spots) and adding warm browns made a difference.

I'd try it without the shutters. They are kind of skimpy looking and the ones on the small windows seem odd.

I agree with jck910 and Kendrah. The color of the brick is not bad enough to warrant painting it. Try removing the shutters; they are the least attractive part of the facade, in my opinion. See how that looks. Then work on a design for some landscaping -- maybe along the pathway and near (but not too near) the house.

I dont see pink on my monitor. I see a very pretty brick. I agree, either remove the shutters, or if you really want to keep them, paint them white. You need quite a bit of landscaping, and maybe curve it out a bit, so it isnt such a straight run in front of the house.

I agree the shutters are the problem, not the brick. If I were you, before making a decision, I would remove all the shutters, paint 1 or 2 in a light color taken from the brick, and put back on for a trial period, and take pictures so you can look at it more objectively. It also looks nice without the shutters, as @nester44 has shown.

It's probably not the brick - your landscape is lacking! You only hate the brick because it's all you see. Develop the front and side landscape, and then re-evaluate!

Agree that it is a very nice gentle, versatile version of so-called "pink" brick.

I often wonder if people are reacting more to the name of the color, pink, than it's actual qualities as a color. Yeah pink was unfortunately made into a "baby girl" color (really only recently, back in the 1940s) but it can take on other associations if combined with other colors besides white.

Dark brown, olive, charcoal-brown, eggplant purple are all colors that can combine well with red or pink brick and give it more of an adult, gender-neutral feel. Any earthy color really and if using white choose a beigier oer creamier version of it.

Certainly worth further consideration, as changing only trim shutters, doors, a lot easier and cheaper than whole house. "Not in love with" pink brick - do you have to be? Maybe think of it more as a beige with red undertones.... cause thats really what it is! Definitely is NOT a true Barbie pink, not even close.

I agree with the other commenters that your brick is not unattractive. Try no shutters or white shutters and a green front door. It always breaks my heart to see people painting brick. You're lucky to have a brick exterior - so low maintenance.

Waht style are you thinking for the update. I will say remove the shutters , do not paint or otherwise coat the brick and then focus on landscaping. I aslo dislike windows with grids so I would be planning on that sometime down the road.IMO doing anything to the brick will instantly devalue that house. I love MCM so tend to advise that as a choice for a n upgrade for your style of house. So check out different styles for a brick ranch to narrow your choices for an upgrade .

You do not have bright brick, so Romabio would work great.

I like the house as it is with that color of brick, except I would paint the shutters===maybe a nice sage or even white or creme colored. I would also paint the door sage or creme colored or white.

You don’t have a mid-century modern ranch, you have a mid-century ranch but the hip roof and shutters plus the taller roof-line give it away as a French style mid-century ranch. Basically it was a kitsch mid-century ranch style that took styling queues from French provincial. I also agree don’t paint the brick, but ALSO don’t get rid of your windows or shutters. Your house is the architectural style it is, you can’t hide it. The problem is the color of the shutters and trim. The stark white trim and black shutters is in fact in line with a traditional french country brick house, but it isn’t for everyone. I’d look into a softer white or cream trim and a less harsh shutter color that still contrasts with the brick but isn’t as hard as the solid black.

If you don’t like the color of the brick, it doesn’t much matter that others think it’s not a bad pink or that it looks fine to them! I have a strong aversion to anything pink, so would cover that without hesitation It would be beautiful in some of the colors Beverly posted, or using Romabio as Celery suggests. If you do your research about the best products to use, you shouldn’t have any future maintenance issues.

Don’t use paint, please. It ruins your brick. Look into Romabio. It’s a lime wash and will also last longer than paint

It can be colored to whatever you want, so think it through. Do you want an ivory/white house? Something closer to a creamy beige? A dark color like navy? Any color can be added to Romabio.

Use a paint app (like Sherwin Williams) to play with ideas. Your house has nice lines.
