Anyone have a freeze yet?

Usually bu the 15th of October we have a freeze. That’s the average. This year, it may be early November before that happens. The warm weather is still with us, between mid 50s to 60s. DH is still golfing. what’ your weather like?

Our average first frost date is Oct. 29 and the temperatures have cooled down this past week. But we are still on the warm side so this could well be a warmer-than-average Fall. It’s too early to say at this point….

First frost here, Zone 7a/NJ is usually in the first week of November. Weather has continued for months to be way above normal in rainfall. Supposed to be another in a long string of rainy weekends, chilly but no frost. Local Atlantic and NYC Metro heat island tend to delay first frosts. Autumn colors are not as good as in the past though.

I am counting on few more weeks of warm weather as I need to stain my fairly large deck which I just recently power washed. All new to me this deck maintenance...

I need days over 50 and and no rain for at least 24 hrs before and after...

Expectations for warmer and drier winter than usual...

Aaarrrggghhhh.... snow! I just came home from a three day walking trip in the Midlands. T shirt all the way and a slight sunburn. It's cooled off this week though. We've dropped to 18c and rain.

Yep, I ventured forth to the normally wet and chilly northwest (Liverpool) where it was dry and warm. Arriving back at Euston, I stepped out to the main plaza...which was like a July night - outside drinking, people in shorts (not me, shudder). Came home to tomato apocalypse, as I neglected to leave any instructions for Mr. primula...Very pleased with this as I was truly getting fed-up with the vasty quantities of tomatoes and endless watering. Garden in danger of neglect cos kitchen painting proceeds apace.

I'm looking forward to a hard freeze so I can clean everything up and put the garden away for the winter. I like to wait until the hosta leaves turn to mush and then just pull or rake them off.

Wayyy up north, so yes, have had the first frosts that zapped the tenders, I don't mind, it's time to get everything cleaned up and off to the massive heaping compost pile, I'm almost done, just another day or so of cutting things down and getting around to sinking some pots into the ground etc.
