It’s cute. The layout reminds me of my parents’ winter home in AZ, but theirs was an H instead of U.

The sleeping loft with ladder in the foyer. Hmm. Storybook love for sure! But, a ladder to a hole in the ceiling in the foyer invites curiousity, and it seems to me that such a loft should be a bit more private, NOT inviting snoops, and also feels a bit exposed to straangers at the door. Also, I toured a Sarah Susanka house with a loft, and trust me, such ladders and lofts are much more easily navigable by shildren than by adults!

But the ideas in this house, the layout, might be a good starting point for your lists of wants and needs and dreams, and bubble diagrams, combined with your site plan, to take to an architect. Then you can work together on your home.

From my perspective, an ideal home is created, and not found or fixed. The starting point should be a site, a list of needs and wants, and a meeting with a local architect and chocolate cookies with walnuts.
